On Tuesday evening, the first qualifier in the new qualifying format will be played in the French capital.
With it, Ligue 2 will get its first chance to prove its worth, with the winners of the next three matches qualifying for the next round of the Europa League.
But in the meantime, Lille will face a second round that they will be unable to participate in because of their Europa League ties.
Lille are favourites to win the Ligue B competition, and it’s unlikely that their chances of a second-place finish in the second qualifying round will be affected.
This is the second time in three years that the Lille squad has played in France.
In 2015, they had to play against the reigning champions Real Sociedad because they were tied with Lyon in the table.
They also missed out on the last-16 of the Champions League in 2012, when they were defeated in the group stages by Monaco.
